Dr Fogarty was awarded a PhD in 2013 and holds a Masters in International Public Health and a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours). She is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the Black Dog Institute with research expertise in men’s mental health, mood disorders, and the use of digital technology to deliver mental health treatment.
She is currently working on the Ahead of the Game project, a newly developed program to address adolescent male mental health through community-based sports clubs. Previously, Dr Fogarty investigated the positive strategies men use during tough times and how these can be used to help other men. She helped to design an online tool for men with depression, which focuses on learning new skills, experimenting with different strategies and developing a personalised plan to stay feeling good or to nip things in the bud when starting to feel down. She has previously worked in public health research and has developed expertise in e-mental health, youth mental health, alcohol policies and the interaction between news reporting of health stories and consumer behaviour.
